Founder & Principal ◆ New York & North Carolina
Rygo Foss founded Emerson Foss Law after almost two decades as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of a privately held enterprise spanning construction, real estate, insurance, and investment operations. In that role, he served as the senior legal executive with broad authority — overseeing all litigation, corporate transactions, insurance strategy, human resources, and regulatory matters across a portfolio of operating companies, real estate holdings, captive insurance entities, and investment vehicles.
Mr. Foss led multiple corporate acquisitions and the formation and structuring of numerous businesses throughout his tenure. He directed the governance of captive insurance companies, managed a private investment vehicle, and served on the executive and administrative management boards overseeing firm-wide strategy. He brings direct experience in institutional capital allocation, insurance program design, and the operational realities of the industries in which his clients operate.
His current practice represents a select group of businesses, family offices, and their principals in transactional, governance, and litigation matters. Mr. Foss has litigated hundreds of disputes in New York — bringing ground-level knowledge of the risks, insurance dynamics, and regulatory landscape that define the industry. He serves on multiple boards in advisory and governance capacities, counsels technology companies on corporate structuring and AI implementation, and advises on digital asset strategy and tokenization structures.
